Steps
Step 1

Gather Materials

Begin by gathering the materials needed to create the wreath. Materials can be adjusted as needed to create your style of wreath.

  • A working wreath frame

  • A decorative light weight sign (Any style you choose)

  • Purple. White, green, and blue deco mesh.

  • Coordinating ribbon that is either 1 and a half inches wide or 2 and a half inches wide (1 roll per design)

  • Extra accessories include trinkets, toys, and fillers.

  • 1 Rotary cutter

  • Scissors

  • Self-Healing cutting matt

  • Wire cutters

  • Hot glue gun with hot glue sticks

Pre-Cut Deco Mesh

Before starting the process of putting the wreath together, pre-cut the deco mesh into 10”x20” pieces using the rotary cutter or scissors on the self-healing cutting matt. Do this seventeen times to ensure you have enough pieces to place in the working wreath frame.

Pre-Cut Ribbon

Next, cut your ribbon of choice using the rotary cutter or scissors on the self-healing matt into 12” long strips. Repeat this 17 times as well.

*Tip - It helps if you have a paperweight or something heavy when cutting these materials because the mesh and ribbon curl!

Step 3
Making Wreaths

Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, let's get to the fun part!

Step 4

First  Layer of Mesh

Now we will be using the ruffle method to create the wreath itself. This is done by placing both hands on the bottom edge of the cut deco mesh while placing your thumbs together in the middle. Then use your fingers to scrunch up the mesh down the center until all the mesh has been put together. It should create a bow tie appearance. Then place the mesh onto one of the pipe cleaners on the working wreath frame and twist the pipe cleaner tightly 1-2 times to hold the mesh in place. Repeat this process 17 more times.

Second Layer of Mesh

Once all the deco mesh has been placed on the working wreath form, then we cut it into 10”x10” 18 times. Place the side that curls facing upward and roll/curl it up. Place the piece onto a pipe cleaner and repeat 17 more times alternating color sections. Twist 1-2 times to ensure secureness.

Step 5

Placing the Ribbon

After this, get your coordinating ribbons and trim both ends in a dove tail cut. Get two different colored ribbon pieces and stack them on top of one another. Fold in half to find the center and once the center is found unfold the ribbon and pinch the center together. Place into the twist ties and twist 1-2 times.

Making and Placing the   Bow

Now it is time to make the bow! You can click the video below to watch a short step by step tutorial on how a bow is made! Once the bow has been made, attach it to the wreath using one of the previous pipe cleaners on the wreath.

Choosing a Sign

Now add the sign of your choice. Since my wreath is Spring themed, I will be choosing a Spring related sign.

Step 8
